Welcome to the Miss Teen Diva Pageant Website!

The Miss Teen Diva Pageant 08 was a great success and we wish to thank the contestants, their parents and the sponsors for making this event possible.

The Miss Teen Diva Pageant Committee wishes to inform the community that as of March 13, 2009, Miss Yamilka George is no longer Miss Teen Diva 2008/2009. Miss George was unable to maintain the Committee’s schedule of appearances and community service events and as such, she was unable to portray and promote the Committee’s objectives for the winner. The Committee wishes to thank Yamilka for participating in the Pageant and wishes her the very best in her endeavours.

Miss E’Mani Prince will now assume the title of Miss Teen Diva 2008/2009 and will continue to represent the Pageant at events and in community service. E’Mani is very excited with the role and looks forward to a productive reign. Most recently, on Saturday, March 14, E’Mani participated in the ‘Spring Fling Fashion Show’ in St. Thomas , a fundraiser for the Family Resource Center .

The Miss Teen Diva and Miss Junior Diva 2009/2010 are both scheduled for August 22, 2009 at the East End/Long Look Community Centre. For the Love of Weddings : May 8, 2009

Red Cross Fashion Extravaganza featured segment – ‘Always a Bridesmaid’

The BVI Red Cross will be hosting its 2^nd annual fashion extravaganza, ‘For the Love of Weddings’ on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall starting at 7:00pm.

This week, we are featuring the ‘Always a Bridesmaid’ segment of the fashion show which was inspired by the movie “27 Dresses” starring Katherine Heigl. “27 Dresses” shows how one woman, Jane Nichols, dedicated her life to other people’s weddings, rather than on securing a love life of her own. She was a bridesmaid in 27 weddings and kept all the dresses in her closet in remembrance of those fine occasions. The dresses ranged from the typical David’s Bridal bridesmaid dresses to the ‘punk rock’ outfit and the ‘Southern Belle’ ensemble. Jane’s love of weddings and devotion to everyone came to an end when her baby sister fell in love with Jane’s boss – who Jane had an enormous crush on. After a few arguments and tirades, in the end, in true Hollywood fashion, Jane got her own dream wedding and had all 27 friends wear the ugly bridesmaid dresses that she had worn on their behalf.

That story line may be familiar to some of us as we may have two, three, four or more bridesmaid dresses in our closets. It is an honor to be asked to stand with a bride or groom at what is presumed to be the biggest event in his or her life. Who can say ‘No’ to a sibling, cousin, best friend or college roommate when asked to stand in on such an occasion. For this ‘Always a Bridesmaid’ segment, we can look forward to an array of dresses, many from Red Cross donations and volunteers’ private collections.

This week, we would also like to highlight the Church Boyz, who will be performing at ‘For the Love of Weddings’. They were recently awarded the Best Dressed Group at the ZROD Top 7 @ 7 Award Show. A gospel and hip hop group, these four young performers entertained the audience last year at Red Cross’ ‘Back Then to Now’ fashion show and are looking forward to ‘spreading the love’ this year.
